Salmon & Tea Towel

20th-century French School oil on carton. The surface of the carton is smooth and has a small patina effect.

A modern minimalist still life representing a salmon cut in half on a kitchen towel. The light is perfectly calibrated by the chiaroscuro. The shapes and colors are accented by the fine shadows and reflections, all the way to the tail of the fish. The fragmented brushstrokes give depth to the subject within its misty brown background.
