Antique painting from France: Oil painting on wood showing the far back of a woman walking along a tree-lined stream. The work is signed  Paul Sébilleau (1847-1907) and dated 1894. In the background, We can see the silhouette of a village church.
Paul offers a sober but deep light to the landscape with his Bisque orange hue. The lines are soft and worked, like those of the reflection in the water, reflections that the impressionists love so much.

About the artist: Paul Sébilleau is part of a line of Bordeaux landscape painters who were influenced by Corot and Courbet. The Gironde, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and the Dordogne were his favorite subjects.  Sébilleau exhibited in Parisian salons, Bordeaux and in the USA.
