Le Rivage
A rich and dynamic coastal landscape on hard carton from the home and atelier of French artist Cécile Hertz-Eyrolles (1875–1974). The work has the atelier stamp on the back of the painting.
This landscape features small white houses or cabins along a bank, looking over the shores of the ocean. Skiffs are anchored below, and one skiff in the lower right hand corner shows a group of figures. Cecile was very generous with her paint and layers for this painting, creating movement across the water, land and sky.
Condition to note: There are a few marks on the surface of the painting, and a few places where flakes of paint were scraped off, especially along the outermost edge and corners.
