Dappled Path

Early 20th-century Belgian school oil painting on canvas. The work is signed and very textured.

A medium-sized oil painting on canvas. The thick brushstrokes and ample use of oil, work together to create a dynamic scene across the path shaded by trees. Light streams forth in unexpected and wonderful ways. The canvas is quite old and fragile for this painting. It was likely created in the early 1900's. When held up to the light, there are points where the light streams through, small holes, and some areas where paint has fallen away to reveal the canvas. Despite these lacks, the painting is rich and not noticeably damaged to the eye. It is signed "Lince" twice in the lower left hand corner. We believe the artist is Marcel de Lince (1886-1958).
