This impressive landscape painting is in near perfect condition for its almost 200 years of age. The landscape depicts a meadow clearing with wildflowers, and bright leaves along the edge of the meadow illuminated by the dawn which enters the scene from the horizon on the right. Upon inspection, the brush strokes are layered and have stacatto brushstrokes, creating a dynamic effect on the foliage.
The painting is signed Jules Rozier, who is an impressive artist of his time, making this painting a collector's piece. Rozier was a landscape painter, born in Paris on November 14, 1821, and passed away in Versailles in October 1882. He was a student of Bertin and Delaroche. Rozier exhibited at the Salon from 1839 to 1882, showcasing views of the banks of the Seine, Normandy, and marine landscapes.
