20th-century French school painting on canvas. The work is mostly smooth to the touch, with some textured areas.

A larger scale village scene in a vertical format. The oil here is applied in quick movements, sometimes thick and sometimes very liberally. In the middle of the canvas, we practically see the canvas peeking through from the lack of paint. The oil is painted on a natural canvas, nailed to the wood backing. The canvas has rough edges and has pulled off the frame in a few places.
