A 19th-century French School oil painting on wood signed in the lower right by Vautier (19th & 20th century). The work is smooth to the touch.
This painting depicts a peaceful shoreline scene, with a man in a small wooden boat sitting offshore with sails drawn. The coastline looks like Brittany or Normandy. Windswept trees are visible on a grassy hill down the shore. The painting is well-executed and possesses a simple sweetness.
The frame is authentically antique, quite heavy, and has been restored in a few areas where mouldings were missing.
