Under the Oaks
20th Century Scottish School oil on canvas signed Alexander Brownlie Docarty (1862-1940) lower right. The work is a bit textured to the touch.
A countryside landscape with controlled brushstrokes. The dark colors are marked and occupy the escape under this wide clear blue sky. The trees and their intricate foliage seem to be the subject of the landscape making the sheep a mere spectators of the towering trees.
