Autumn Bounty

A beautiful still life dated 1933 on the back. The canvas is signed S. Megévaud at the bottom left. Elegant, wavy brushstrokes are rich in texture, creating a striking visual effect enhanced by vibrant colors that catch the eye.

The black frame with its dark gilding further enhances the vibrant colors of the autumnal squash, pumpkin and cabbage in the shining copper bowl. This centerpiece is illuminated against a rich earth tone background, allowing the vegetables to be the hero, and take on greater proportion as they seem to escape the bowl.

A true French Country still life, with excellent details and technique; unexpected and lovely.
