Paysage
A landscape oil painting on wood, from the home and atelier of French artist Cécile Hertz-Eyrolles (1875–1974). The reverse bears the artist’s atelier stamp.
This vibrant landscape is painted in broad, abstract brushstrokes and a bold, expressive palette. Departing from her more naturalistic tones, Hertz-Eyrolles explores vivid blues, deep purples, pinks, and a swatch of bright green to bring a small valley to life. The scene feels free and spontaneous, full of joyful energy. Tiny houses dot the landscape, and as the eye moves across the surface, more details emerge — a body of water, a winding road, and hints of life tucked into the composition.
The painting is housed in an antique frame with gold leaf detailing along the inner edge and acanthus leaf moldings along the outer rim.
