Les Falaises
A landscape oil painting on canvas mounted to carton, from the home and atelier of French artist Cécile Hertz-Eyrolles (1875–1974). The reverse bears the artist’s atelier stamp.
This coastal scene unfolds in soft greens, purples, and yellows, as rolling vegetation leads the eye down toward the sea. In the distance, headlands and cliffs fade into the atmospheric haze, blending with the sky so that the horizon line nearly disappears. The sky, rendered in a pale pearl grey, echoes the subtle tones of the land below, casting a muted, silvery atmosphere across the entire composition. The canvas is nearly evenly divided between sky and landscape, creating a calm, balanced rhythm.
The painting is housed in its vintage green and gold frame with a Belgian linen mat, which complements the gentle color palette and lends a timeless elegance to the piece.
