An interior oil painting on canvas, from the home and atelier of French artist Cécile Hertz-Eyrolles (1875–1974). The reverse bears the artist’s atelier stamp.

This work captures the French Art Nouveau home where Cécile lived with her husband and family — a central and recurring subject in both her biography and her paintings. The scene depicts a quiet living room space, slightly in shadow, featuring a console table flanked by a twisted column and two red chairs. The room includes a number of indistinct objects, characteristic of Cécile’s home, which she shared with fellow collectors. The overall composition feels intimate and personal, reflective of the artist’s deep attachment to her domestic surroundings.

The painting is housed in an antique late 19th-century frame with gold leaf detailing.

Condition to note: There is a small square hole along the right edge of the canvas. It is stable and could be professionally repaired, though it may also be left as-is. When held to the light, some areas of the canvas appear transparent due to the artist having left parts unpainted — a technique consistent with other works from her atelier. The canvas sits just slightly ajar from the frame along the upper edge.
