Saint-Malo
An oil painting of a church on hard carton, from the home and atelier of French artist Cécile Hertz-Eyrolles (1875–1974). The reverse bears the artist’s atelier stamp.
This Gothic church scene features a central town church with twin bell towers — known in French as an église à deux clochers. The composition is likely inspired by Saint-Malo-de-la-Lande, a small village in Normandy, not to be confused with the coastal town of Saint-Malo in Brittany. Below the church, a lively town square is filled with the movement of colorful figures, suggesting a market day or community gathering.
The painting is housed in an antique Regency-style frame from the late 19th century, adorned with delicate bouquet corner details.
