Jeune Homme
Original European Oil Painting: 20th-century Belgian School bust portrait of a young boy, oil on canvas, signed Albert Terken (1919-1992).
The canvas has significant thickness on the model's face, collar and shoulders, with a smoother finish on the white areas of the bust. The light is perfectly distributed and the color undertones on the subject's face are balanced, and at the same time bold. Albert seems to reveal the inner personality of the subject, his essence. He has almost a sculptor's approach to this portrait, where his subject suddenly emerges from the bottom, affirming an individuality. The effect is reinforced by this neutral blue background which leaves plenty of room for the regard and imagining the story of the sitter.
