Castle View

A 20th-century French School oil painting on wood signed by Rampry (19th & 20th century) in the lower right corner. The work has texture to the touch.

This romantic chateau landscape painting on wood was sourced in Provence. The greens and spring colors in the painting come alive against a light blue sky, with an impressive castle tower rising in the distance. The architecture of the castle is reminiscent of the Dordogne Valley.

The wood panel on which the painting was created consists of separate wood cuttings joined together, creating horizontal lines on the surface that add to its authenticity. There are some smudges across the surface, and the painting was framed at some point, leaving a thin border around the outer edge that is colored differently. Additionally, there are some pinhole marks where the painting was pinned. Overall, it is a lovely piece.
