Les Passants
20th-century French School oil painting on carton board attributed to Charles Berges (1851-1941). The work has a little texture to the touch.
A stunning antique village scene in muted colors. The slate greys, rust colors, and intentional blank space on the carton create a dreamy effect. We see the buildings and homes right up against the canal or river that weaves through the town. Reflections are visible in the water, and a peacefulness abounds.
This painting has rounded corners, and some marks on the surface from age, but is in great condition, with a lovely smudged patina.
