River view

20th-century French school oil on wood panel. The work has little texture to the touch.

A small scale river or tidal oil painting on wood, that has benefitted from the last 100 years of age by turning a darker patina and picking up more rustic tones. The wood has a stamp on the back that is partially obscured but locates the panel as coming from Paris and Boulevard de Clichy, probably in the late 1800's or early 1900's. 

The condition of the painting has some scratches across the surface, notably on the left hand side, and other marks of age primarily along the edges.
