La Rivière

20th-century French school oil on hard carton. The work has little texture to the touch.

A small-format oil painting that represents a river delta, with plains and rolling hills in the background. We also see some small structures and people along the shores. A great mix of choppy and fluid brushstrokes have the paradoxical effect of calmness and movement.

The condition is a bit distressed for its age with a mark along the outermost edge, left by a frame, there are also some light scratches along the surface. 

The back of the panel is inscribed, "March 1928 Leblanc (?).
