Boats & Coast
20th-century French school oil on hard carton attributed to Charles Berges (1851-1941). The work has little texture to the touch.
A wonderfully distressed port scene with a bright sky, shadowed working boats, and turquoise waters. The painting has a lot of imperfections in the form of marks, and surface stains from time, but it seems to add to the antique charm of the piece.
No signature, but based on our source, it is attributed to Berger. The carton itself comes from Paris and is stamped on the back, placing the painting in the late 1800's-early 1900's.
